STAGS Community Raise an Amazing £1,082.08 for Cancer Research UK

On Friday 5 May STAGS community seized the opportunity to take part in the Cancer research Race for Life and raised an outstanding £1,082.08. The event was skilfully organised by Year 12 Sports Captains, Olivia Syson, Lorna Harper, Abby Durrant and managed by PE Curriculum Leader Mrs Pennock.

During the last school period of the day, participants ran around the
perimeter of the school site, followed by a smaller loop. Each person
paid £1 to take part and if they wanted to wear bright pink accessories they were asked to pay an additional £1. School Assistant Site Manager and part time DJ, Mr Taylor played a selection of music to keep everyone moving. Sports captain Olivia Syson said, “The atmosphere was very relaxed and the event just seamlessly came together. I think everyone who took part had fun because they were running with their friends.” Each person who
took part was awarded a medal for successfully completing the course.

It was great to see students wearing their “I am racing for….” and
humbling to see how many people are affected by cancer.

Thank you to all Year 12 students who helped with promotion and martialling duties, Mr Taylor for super sounds, Mrs Pennock for her encouragement and enthusiasm and last but not least all those STAGS students and staff who supported this event.
