STAGS Rotary Interact Club Rise to the Chalmers Challenge for the Purple for Polio Campaign
On Wednesday 22 March the District Governor for Herts, Beds and Bucks, Mr Chalmers Cursley laid down a challenge to members of the STAGS Rotary Interact group. He gave them a box of 100 Typhoo tea bags and a jar of Tiptree Greengage Jam and challenged them to turn it into £50.
The aim was to help raise funds to help provide free polio vaccines for the Purple for Polio campaign. In response STAGS Rotary Club has been successfully selling tea and scones with jam and cream at break times from Tuesday 2 May till Friday 12 May.
District Governor Chalmers passed on to the girls some incredible news to the club. He said ‘Whatever amount of money you raise, the District Rotary Clubs have agreed to double it and the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation will then subsequently triple it! This means the final amount that STAGS Interact Club raises will in fact be multiplied by 6 which is simply amazing!
By the end of May the Rotary Club will be advised of the overall total we have raised. Until then STAGS will be taking full advantage of Bill and Melinda’s generous offer. There is still time to boost the coffers. Cash or cheques will be graciously received by the STAGS Finance office. It costs just 30p to immunise a child
