STAGS U15 Volleyball Proud to Progress Forward in Level 3 in Schools Tournament

On Wednesday 18th January STAGS U15 volleyball team played fast and furious matches against local schools at the level two stage of the schools tournament. The girls played on own home ground in the Sports Hall and were thrilled to progress through to level 3 of the 4 stage tournament. PE Curriculum Leader, Mrs Pennock gives her account of the proceedings:

“The girls got off to a great start and thanks to an excellent service round from Year 10 students Ellie Slaughter and Hannah Coote won their first game very convincingly. During the next match they were put to the test but with some excellent digs they managed to claw their way back into the game, just narrowly losing out by a couple of points. STAGS came in second place but this was good enough to get them into the next round. After the tournament the girls were so keen and excited they wanted to stay on to get some extra practice in preparation for the next match!”

Special thanks go to Year 12 students and Sports Leaders, Thaneya Akhtar, Trin Owhe, Katie Griffiths, Tash Robin, Catriona Lowe, Amy Harris, Hannah Sears-Black, and Ceri Morris for all their assistance with umpiring, updating the score sheets and managing the order of play. Well done to all involved! STAGS community wishes you every success in the next round in March.
