Austen House Charity - St Albans and District Foodbank

Austen House has been assigned the St Albans and District Foodbank as its charity this year and students are determined to spread awareness and help this worthy cause. The Foodbank helps the less fortunate to get back on their feet, providing people with food and other essentials to assist them in feeding and looking after their families, pets and themselves. It opened in 2014 to help 1 in 5 people who live in poverty. People turn to the Foodbank as a last resort when they are not in a position to take care of themselves and their loved ones, and with your support we are hoping to be able to contribute towards their wellbeing. At the   moment, the Foodbank can only help someone up to three times, due to a lack of supplies, so donating food via our school could really help to make a difference. The charity event that ran from 17th to 21st September was a huge success, collecting 211 items in total - a wonderful outcome for our efforts! We hope that this will contribute to the Foodbank and all their amazing work, and that in the future we will continue to help as much as we can. Thank you to  everyone who donated!
