Higher Education Week
Higher Education and Careers Week provides the opportunity for Year 13 students to prepare for life after school and explore the wide variety of opportunities that are available .
Following on from the visit to the UCAS convention and the Parents information evening, there are two further days of activities and information specifically tailored to the needs of year 13 students.
The aims of this event are:
- To provide extensive information about the process of applying to university/ preparing personal statements etc.;
- To provide information on the alternatives to university e.g. Degree Apprenticeships and the various routes available into a wide range of careers;
- To provide an understanding of the skills needed in addition to academic qualifications in order to gain places in employment, competitive courses or beginning a life away from home.
On day 1 there will be a number of visiting presenters/experts providing an insight into a variety of university courses, careers and the skills which are required beyond the Sixth Form.
On day 2, as part of the full day of events we will be explaining in detail the application process and running a session on preparing that vital personal statement.
In the afternoon there will be a Q&A session with a range of undergraduates. This session always proves very popular as students can find out what it is really like in that first year of university from people who have just experienced it.
