Kisaruni Girls' School, Kenya
The St Albans Girls' School community believes that education is a key part in breaking the cycle of poverty and as such we see this as a vital experience for all young people. While primary education in Kenya is provided free to all children, secondary education is still very expensive. Therefore the St Albans Girls' School community annually raises money to sponsor the secondary education of a young woman in Kenya at the Kisaruni Girls' School.
The money raised by the school community provides the student with:
- Room and board
- Textbooks, school supplies and classroom resources
- Field trips and extracurricular opportunities
- Mentorship and counselling
- Leadership programming
- Teacher training
So far the school community has supported one student named Faith who graduated in December 2016 and is currently sponsoring another student called Sheilla who is in her second year at the school.
