Year 7 and 8 members of Ms Ritchie's creative writing club enjoyed an exciting visit from a local author, Rachael Blok. Rachael came to talk to students about her work and experiences as a professional novelist. Lots of thoughtful, intelligent questions were put forward by students, and it was fantastic to hear about her processes of choosing book titles, establishing her plot and characters, how she researches her ideas, and about her working day and sources of inspiration. Rachael's books are psychological crime novels set in St. Albans. Her latest book - 'The Fall' - features the cathedral on the front cover. Thanks to Rachael for her time and to the students for their warm welcome.
